Spring delivers the Brown Pow to Pemberton. MTB Trails NOW OPEN!

Posted by Oriel Morrison on

The first day of Spring is a day of celebration in Pemberton. The snow line has receded up the mountain and the trails are starting to open up. This time of year is traditionally the busiest and the conditions are near perfect. Brown pow is the locals term for how the mountain bike trails are running.

Pemberton is located just 25 minutes north of Whistler, and is blessed to have one of the best trail networks in the world. People come from all over to sample our unique mixture of technical and flow and arguably some of the best uphill single-track anywhere.

Support Community Trail Riding

All of this has been made possible by a strong and vibrant volunteer community that contributes so many hours to the development and maintenance of this cherished network.

The Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA) was founded in the early 2000’s with a mandate to create and sustain multi use trails throughout the valley. With much hard work and perseverance, the mandate has been valiantly upheld! The list of success stories is long and impressive.

Everywhere you look there are the fingerprints of the PVTA: Valley Loop trail, Friendship trail, Nimby, Backpains, Middle Earth, Mt Currie hiking trail, Live Like Lisa, Wild Potato, maps, signage….the list goes on.

One of the latest projects is the signage one . This is an epic undertaking with more than 70 junction points in our trail network. Many of you will have seen Darren out there slaving away digging holes and dropping in posts.

At The Bike Co. we would like to thank and bring to your attention the scope of work and commitment that the PVTA brings to this town. Many of the hours are volunteer and this is the time of year to support these endeavours by purchasing the PVTA and  PORCA trail membership.
